We all have somebody that we look up to. Most of the time, the most significant role model in our life does come from our childhood. As athletes, it is our responsibility to follow up with other fellow athletes at all ages and levels of skill to support, encourage and act as role models to keep them going and be strong in sport.
The Baydogs Athlete Sponsorship Program (BASP) is going into its second year. With a successful first year, the sponsorship supported two young athletes – Josh Vilchez and John Breeson. These two young men participated in a few races between them. Jordi competed in the Muskoka Kids Triathlon and the Barrie Triathlon because our sponsorship covered the race fees. John wanted to do the Wasaga Beach Sprint Triathlon with a goal of sub 1:15. These races may not have been possible with our support.
